Terri
First of all, in book news territory, I have a fantastic little novella for you.

Amber Night is one of my favourite histrom authors, and I really recommend this novella (along with everything she ever writes). Call me obsessed. It’s a class difference, interracial romance set in 1907 (so don’t go into it thinking it’s Regency-set), and it’s absolutely fabulous. Please do go and give it a read. It’s in KU, too!
Other News
Last newsletter, I promised I would be working more on my dark Victorian romance—and I fully intended to take a break from my Dragonblade stuff to work on my next indie book.
But then…
My husband and I decided we wanted to sell our house!?
It’s funny, really, because our house was not then finished and we had no immediate plans to move. But we found our dream home in an ideal location and we thought “why not?”
(It turns out there are a dozen reasons why not, and most of them lie somewhere along the line of “because it’s crazy.”)
Anyway, that means that the past month—except for a lovely holiday with my in-laws—has been spent on DIY. I’ve been building flagstone steps, rendering garden walls, plastering, filling, painting, caulking (I now unironically think “a little caulking will sort that right out”), and generally polishing our house to within an inch of its life. The end result is a home I’m in love with, and a host of new skills in my metaphorical toolkit.
The downside is I’ve had very little time for writing.
But the house is (finally) on the market, September is around the corner, and I’m about to dive right back into my words. I’m so excited about The Scholar’s Secret, which should be coming out at the end of the year, and I can’t wait to get my claws into the final book of the series, To Love a Viscount, which is my ode to shy girls everywhere (hello, it’s me).
And yes, you know I’m going to be squeezing every spare second into my Victorian romance, because the chemistry between Livvy and Kieran is to die for.
He exhaled against her cheek, as though surprised she was going ahead with this, and his hand on her waist flexed. His mouth tensed, then softened. She pressed against him more firmly, closing her eyes so she wouldn’t see who it was she was kissing. Her heart thudded in her chest, reminding her of all the ways she despised him.
Her fingers ached where he had dislocated them.
And he didn’t kiss her back.
After a second, she raised her head, absurdly piqued. What was the use of this farce if he refused to be distracted by it? She needed him to lose himself to sensation, to think that she was capitulating, and only then would she have the opportunity to take the knife.
Anger gripped her, followed by fear. Plenty of men had desired her, their lust dark and disturbing, pushing beyond the bounds of propriety. She knew she did not appear at her best dressed as a man, her hair a wild, curly mess around her head, but surely some part of him had to want her.
He tipped his chin up so he could meet her gaze. “Apologies, petal, but you’ll have to try harder than that.”
“What?”
“Kiss me like you mean it. Like you want it.” He brought the knife to her cheek and stroked the tip along her cheekbone, just light enough that the sensation quivered through her. Strange exhilaration followed, as though the sweet whisper of violence had awoken something in her very core. “Kiss me like you want to live.”
She could do one better.
She could kiss him like she wanted him to die.
(Or is that to kill for?)
That’s all from me, loves. Until next time.

Hello from Kiera!
Sorry to have been so quiet in recent months, but here is some good news to share:
The Regency Runaway Brides Novella collection launches on the 26th of this month!

Here is the blurb for Lottie Makes an Exit:
Charlotte Sinclair has never balked at a challenge. But when both she and her sister are threatened with loveless matches that will ruin their happiness, her powers of ingenuity are stretched to the limit. Her solution is audacious and depends entirely on her childhood friend Fitzwilliam Hardwick agreeing to pose as her fiancé.
The problem is that Charlotte is foolishly, inconveniently in love with Fitz—and he has been avoiding her for weeks.
Fitzwilliam Hardwick, second son of the Earl of Dartford, has spent considerable effort suppressing his feelings for Lottie. But when she presents him with her outrageous proposition, he finds himself agreeing, despite his better judgement.
What neither of them anticipate is a snowstorm trapping them in the same quarters as Lottie’s father and preferred suitor. Furthermore, Lottie’s plan to take the Stagecoach to London is now out of the question. What began as a simple deception risks becoming something far more risky. If this unravels, it won't just be their hearts on the line.
Of course, Lina Sinclair, Lottie’s sister, has her own story to tell, and I’m busy writing that as quickly as possible. Hopefully it will be released this autumn too.
As for now, the novellas will be released in batches, and ALL are in Kindle Unlimited. There is a mixture of sweet and steamy options. I really hope you enjoy!
Kiera xx
