May Fun and Sequel Shenanigans

May Fun

Hi guys, Terri here. May has well and truly arrived, and it’s bringing with it the promise of summer. A couple of weeks ago, I went on a walking holiday with my husband in the Lake District, and it only rained one day of five(!)

(For those of you unfamiliar with the Lakes, the chance of rain is more common than not, and the forecast promised doom and gloom.)

Almost at the top!

Alas, now I’m back and working my day job, which for those of you who don’t know is ghostwriting! I obviously can’t talk about projects with clients, but I’m writing contemporary romance and having a grand old time.

Did You Know…

I (Terri) also have a romcom novella out under the name Cassidy Hart. It’s about the notorious London Queue in September (to see the Queen’s coffin in Westminster) and features a girl with blue hair, named Tessa, who finds love (and snakey ex-boyfriends) in The Queue. You can check it out here.

That particular novella is sweet, but I’m currently writing its sequel, which is hate-to-love, and dang if I don’t think it’s going to get steamy. One of my favourite things about writing is its unpredictability. I know some things going in, but often the characters have a mind of their own.

Sequel Shenanigans

Speaking of sequels, I’m writing the next Finders Keepers book, focusing on Annabelle’s story. I’ve hit 20,000 words and my tortured hero has just announced that he and the heroine are due to be married. He’s inherited an eye-watering amount of debt from his recently deceased brother, and has elected to marry Annabelle not because of her charms, but because of her dowry. And sure, publicly manipulating your soon-to-be bride so she has no choice but to marry you isn’t romantic, but no one’s perfect.

Who adores a flawed hero? I know I do. Jacob Barrington, the new Marquess of Sunderland, is wild and selfish and hiding an extremely poor opinion of himself behind layers of wicked charm and debauchery. In contrast, Annabelle is shy and suffers from extreme social anxiety. An unlikely pairing, but I’m so excited to watch them fall in love.

Here’s a tiny sneak peek from their second meeting:

Like a spectre, the Marquess appeared before her once more, cloaked in moonlight and irritation. “My brother courted you,” he said, words clipped and sharp. “He wished to marry you for your dowry. I had forgotten.”

“What does it matter to you?”

“It matters because of what I know now.” He snorted and gripped her chin in his strong fingers, forcing her to meet his angry, edged gaze. “Or perhaps it doesn’t. Ironic that I attempted to prevent a union that might have saved him, if he had lived to see it.”

Annabelle stared up at him uncomprehendingly. “It might have saved him?”

“Possibly.” He released her abruptly, shaking his hand like she had burned him. “You should go inside, little kitten, before I do something you may regret.”

This is a slow-burn marriage of convenience novel featuring an unconventional heroine, which I personally adore. I haven’t finished it yet, but I’m pretty confident there’s some spice to come. Watching these two fall for each other is adorable. If those are things you love, then check it out!

Indie Author Spotlight

Uncommon is the first in Rachel Rowan’s incredible Entitled Love novella series. Think Bridgerton meets romcom. If you like Regency, you like contemporary, and you love steamy romance, these are for you. I really recommend you give it a try!

Regency Love is a standalone Regency novel that takes a more traditional line—think more steamy Jane Austen than Julia Quinn. TL Clark is a talented writer, so if that’s your vibe, dive right in!

That’s all from me today, folks. Until next time!
